February 2nd is Groundhog's Day.

So will we have 6 more weeks of winter???
Today in the United States we celebrate Groundhog's day.

On February 2nd of each year we look to the Groundhog to predict how long winter will last.
The special tradition is one that brings hope that the groundhog will not see it's shadow so the hopeful are happy that spring is right around the corner. 
The legend is that if the groundhog come out of its den and sees his shadow there will be 6 more weeks of winter. However if he doesn't see his shadow that denotes that beautiful spring will arrive soon. The groundhog tradition was brought over to America by German immigrants. This tradition is based upon Candlemas which is the day that is midway between Spring and Winter.

Here in Floriday every day is like spring or summer for the most part however we have many friends and family up north that are anxiously anticipating the beginning of Spring.
